Something new on a Friday night

Tonight, Pat and I tried something new. After reading Feasting Fort Collins we decided to go to the Astoria.

All I can say is yumm!

Yes, it's easy

Dinner today, chicken enchiladas and baked apples.

Birthday Dinner-Julia Style

Today was spent fixing a dish

from my Julia Child's cookbook.

Mastering The Art of French Cooking.

So, I guess the question is did I?

On the menu: 

Boeuf Bourguignon

Buttered Peas

Roasted Potatoes

Toasted Baguette

Family and friends were here to help celebrate with 

Chocolate Cake

Hmmm, A chicken night.

As I looked in the freezer figuring out

what's for dinner I saw...

Hatch chilies, bacon, and chicken burgers

In the pantry...

Couscous and olive oil

In the window..

Rosemary and lemon

In the fridge...

Seriously sharp cheddar from Wisconsin

So, what was for dinner?

Chili Cheese Chicken Burgers garnished with bacon.

Rosemary-lemon couscous.

Yumm

Waking up Saturday morning with a 'Mom, I'm making pancakes!'

Hey, I'm glad he like to cook.

Mine was with Ashley and Lox

Stroganoff With A Twist

Beef stroganoff? Na! How about Hot Dog Stroganoff

What do you use if there is no hamburger

in the house but a LOT of beef hot dogs.

My kids and I decided to try something different.

Hot Dog Stroganoff.

Of course the end result, as always

My daughter made me chocolate milk tonight.

A Whole Foods Dinner

After my CSU appointment

I stopped by Whole Foods to pick up some dinner.

Chicken Scaloppini and Smoked Mozzarella Pasta Salad

So, last night was...

So, last nights dinner...

Ham steak, yellow watermelon,

and fried green tomatoes.

Luckily I was able to have a few of the tomatoes.

The kids gobbled them up

Tonight's Dinner,

Garlic, bacon, and cheddar crusted 

pork chops, buttered sprouts,

and bread.  YUMM

I'm glad my kids like sprouts.

Going Bananas

For tomorrows breakfast.. I'm going to make

everyone eat bananas...

The only thing is they are OLD!

What better was to use them than make

Dinner, fresh from the farmers market

 Vegetable beef stew is on tonight's menu.

As stated in my earlier blog we went to the market with

one thing in mind.

Dinner. 

After browning the meat and onions.
And after chopping the vegi's

Everything was combined with some stock
And it's been cooking all day long. 

How is it?

To Market, To Market

Today we ventured to the Cheyenne Farmers Market.

Low and behold the produce we purchased was from our neighbor state...

Colorado

 The goal, something for dinner.

We left with enough to make vegetable beef stew.

As well As; salsa, fried green tomatoes, and baby dills 

The dinner will be coming SOON!

And the food prep begins...

For Saturdays meal I decided to create some dishes I never

have done before, really.

It all begins with a brisket covered with a lot of herbs.

After a 12 hour chill down, it was place on top of a 

bed of Mesquite Wood chips to smoke for a while.

Onto the next yummy thing. BUTTER for the corn on the cob.

A few spices made this into a Honey Ancho Chili Butter

YUMM

 Just in the mood for more baking.

Onto dessert. What to do with peaches? Peach Pie

Along with 2 loaves of bread. The pie is done.

Hooked on Julia. I thought it would be a good idea

to have some asparagus to go along with dinner. After watching

how to make hollandaise sauce I thought I would try it.

Awww. and a refreshing drink to go with everything.

Citrus Water.
